Artificial intelligence is being used as a tool to control Aktogay Mining and Processing Complex
The mine in Aktogay settlement of East Kazakhstan region became one of the largest copper producers in the world. Today, the Head of State participated in the ceremony of commissioning the second processing plant of the mine, and also visited the Aktogay Mining and Processing Complex “KAZ Minerals Aktogay”. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of such projects for the country's economy, a correspondent of Khabar 24 reports.
The second plant will increase the ore processing. The production capacity will be doubled - up to 50 million tons per year. In general, investments in the mine development reached $ 3 billion 200 million. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the importance of this facility for the region.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- Exports of processed products will grow. 700 new jobs will be created. The budget will receive $ 80 million of tax revenues. Moreover, the plant is actively involved in the construction of new social facilities, updating the equipment of educational and medical institutions of East Kazakhstan region.
The project to expand the processing capacities of the Aktogay MPC started four years ago. He entered the state program of innovative-industrial development. The President thanked the builders who managed to construct the plant rapidly.

- In modern Kazakhstan, thanks to the efforts of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, such large industrial facilities are being created. They are the objects of regard of the entire world community, the industrial community that understands the significance of the industry. This is a worthy example of business social responsibility. We express our gratitude to the management of this plant for their great attention to the issues of social life.
The new plant complies with the Industry 4.0. The enterprise uses programs based on artificial intelligence. The output products are intended to be sent abroad. The Head of State noted that such production aims at 1.5-time increase of the export of the processing industry by 2025, as well as labor productivity by 30%.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- I highlighted in the Address that last year, for the first time in 10 years of industrialization, the contribution of the processing industry to the development of the economy exceeded the share of the mining industry and amounted to 13%. According to the results of 8 months of this year, the growth rates of the processing industry are sustained, reaching almost 6%. Within the framework of the Industrialization Map, over 120 new productions were launched creating 12,000 jobs. By the end of the year, the Industrial Policy Law will be adopted.
As early as next year, the large-scale Aktogay Copper Mine will produce 190,000 tons of copper. By increasing its production, it became one of the largest in the world. In general, the total employment of the entire complex is more than 3,000 people.
