The meeting of Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest and Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Astana

The meeting was held in Astana city between Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest Saparbak Tuyakbayev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkina.

The meeting was also attended by the Trade Commissioner of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexander Yakovlev.

The parties discussed the issues of deepening of investment cooperation between the countries within the framework of EAEU. During the meeting, the head of Kazakh Invest said that according to the National Investment Strategy, Russia is among the 11 priority countries for investing in Kazakhstan. The Russian party was provided with actual investment proposals in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for studying.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of establishing a special economic zone in the territory of Baikonur complex.

According to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan, the amount  of the Russian investments in the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan accounts for almost USD 12 billion with implementing about 50 large investment projects. Currently the Russian companies are also interested in the Privatization Program in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

«Russian investments create new jobs in Kazakhstan. These enterprises make a contribution to the training of Kazakhstan employees who take a preliminary course of professional preparation», - the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin stressed at the meeting.

The parties also discussed the opportunities of cooperation within the framework of the arrangements reached at the Fifth Caspian Summit in Aktau. In particular, the parties are interested in the implementation of tourist projects in the Caspian seaside. Besides, promising directions opened - development of port services, fishery, shipping industry, etc.

The Russian Ambassador said that an additional impulse to the development of the economic integration would be given by forthcoming joint key events this  year. They are the scheduled session of the Intergovernmental Commission in Kazan, the Council of Leaders of the CIS Governments in Astana and the XV Forum of Inter-Regional Cooperation with participation of national leaders in Petropavlovsk.
