Representatives of the textile industry of China visited Astana

Leaders of more than 30 Chinese largest textile companies-members of the Union of Textile Industry of the People's Republic of China visited Astana for the first time to study the Kazakhstan investment opportunities. The meeting is organized with the support of Kazakh Invest National Company.

At the meeting, Chairman of Board of Kazakh Invest Saparbek Tuyakbayev highlighted that within the framework of the joint investment program between Kazakhstan and China, the implementation of joint large hi-tech projects in sectors of biotechnologies, automobile cluster, RES, and other arrangements on these projects were achieved during the visit of the Head of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev to the on these projects in June this year.

«The textile industry is a promising sector with great potential for cooperation. For example, Kazakhstan collects about 250,000 tons of cotton annually. About a third of this volume is processed, the remaining part goes as raw material for export. Meanwhile, we have a special economic zone Ontustik which is located in the border region with Uzbekistan, the largest cotton producer. Taking into the fact that according to the international ratings the investment climate in Kazakhstan is the best in the Central Asian region, it is possible to develop business in Kazakhstan and to study for the further export», - S.Tuyakbayev said.

In turn, the Head of Ontustik special economic zone Medeu Dildabayev told the Chinese partners about preferential treatment for participants in the special economic zone.

At the meeting, members of the delegation of the textile industry started negotiations on cooperation in cotton production, raw material processing, clothing production, and logistics.

«This is our first visit to Kazakhstan, and the majority of members of our delegation are very interested in starting cooperation with your country. We visited Kazakhstan owing to the invitation of Kazakh Invest. And I think that we held a very successful meeting, have learned about investment potential. Kazakhstan and China are countries with the common border, connected by common mountains, rivers, for this reason I’m sure that we have huge opportunities and great potential in this sector», - said the head of the Chinese delegation, Chairman of the Union of Textile Industry of China Song Ruizhe.

In his turn, Deputy Director General of Representative Office of the China International Chamber of Commerce in the Republic of Kazakhstan Gao Qi noted that «today's meeting is a very good beginning for cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the textile industry. The government creates very good conditions for investors. And consequently after today's negotiations and discussions I think that there will be definitely a good result».

For reference: the Union of Textile Industry of China is one of leading federations of the country. Reformed from the Ministry of Textile Industry of the Peoples’ Republic of China, the Union has more than 20-years history. Over 20 million people now work in the ranks of the organization. Companies of the Union, export 12 % of the total export volume of the entire textile industry of China, thus the total contribution to the Chinese economy is estimated at 3 %.
