Kazakhstan and Iran addressed the issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov made a working trip to Tehran. The Kazakhstan delegation chaired by Bakhyt Sultanov held talks with the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran on expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as enhancing the transit potential between the two countries.

Meetings were held with the Ministers of Trade, Agriculture, Healthcare, Oil, Transport and Urban Development, as well as with the leadership of the Railway Administration, the National Bank, the National Oil Company, the representatives of the Chamber for Commerce and Industry and some provinces of the country.

During the talks with the First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Mohber, the Kazakhstan side confirmed its interest in increasing the transportation of goods through the territory of Iran in the North-South direction with subsequent access to the countries of the Persian Gulf, Africa, South Asia and other regions, including using multimodal cargo transportation. Speaking about the importance of expanding the Kazakhstan-Iranian transport cooperation, the Iranian side emphasized the fruitful nature of the negotiations held on the transport and logistics cooperation development. Furthermore, the first Mohammad Mohber noted that achieving these goals can make Iran and Kazakhstan important regional hubs.

Both sides stressed that in recent years there has been a good dynamics of increasing trade turnover. At the same time, even due to the existing international restrictions on trade with Iran, the potential remains significant. For example, in the food industry, Kazakhstan is ready to increase the export of grain, confectionery and flour products, meat and meat products, as well as other meat products. At the same time, there is a demand for Iranian fruits and vegetables in the Republic.

The parties also addressed the issues of expanding cooperation in the industrial cooperation. It was noted that there are great opportunities for the implementation of joint projects in the agricultural processing, for example, projects for the processing of agricultural raw materials.

Within the participation of the Iranian investors, projects on the construction of a meat processing plant, the construction of an oilseed processing plant and the assembly of grain harvesters, etc., have been successfully implemented in Kazakhstan.

The Iranian side noted that the exchange of trade missions, exhibitions of products and achievements will be an incentive for expanding cooperation between the private sector and entrepreneurs of the two countries.
