The Head of State received the Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland Ville Skinnari

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, Co-Chair of the Bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Ville Skinnari, who made a working visit to Nur-Sultan.

Welcoming the Finnish Minister, the Head of State highlighted the important place of Suomi in the foreign policy of Kazakhstan.

– Finland is the largest source of investment in Kazakhstan among the Nordic countries. We highly appreciate the active comprehensive cooperation between our friendly peoples, the President said.  

The Head of State expressed preference for maintaining a regular political dialogue at the highest and high level. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed his best wishes to the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and renewed the invitation to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.  

In turn, Ville Skinnari thanked the Head of State for the meeting, noting that he is paying his first foreign visit to Kazakhstan since the COVID-19 pandemic. He also conveyed warm greetings from the President of Finland to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

“There are excellent bilateral relations between our countries. Finland has been independent for more than 100 years, and Kazakhstan for 30 years. We hope that a new stage of bilateral relations will begin after the end of the pandemic. Kazakhstan and Finland have great potential for building up political dialogue. I would also like to emphasize the importance of developing mutual trade and attracting investments,” the Finnish Minister said.

The Head of State named green technologies and telecommunications industry as the priority areas for the implementation of joint projects. The President stressed that our country is ready to provide special preferences for foreign investors and the transfer of Finnish technologies. Ville Skinnari spoke about good prospects for cooperation within the European Union, welcomed the practical steps of Kazakhstan to combat climate change, develop agriculture, food sector, digitalization and cybersecurity. According to the Minister, the Finnish side is ready for business cooperation in these sectors.
