R. Sklyar held online talks with the leadership of German companies

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar held an online meeting with the leadership of large German companies. The event was aimed to deepening of Kazakhstan-German trade, economic and investment cooperation, green economy development, implementation of joint projects, as well as measures to protect the rights of German investors.

The online meeting was attended by almost 90 representatives of German companies and their branches in Kazakhstan, including CLAAS, Svevind Group, Volkswagen, Siemens, Deutsche Bank, Knauf, Deutsche Bahn AG, etc.

Moreover, the event was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the FRG D. Karipov and the FRG in the Republic of Kazakhstan M. Iwersen, representatives of federal state agencies of the FRG, branch and regional business associations.  

In his speech, Roman Sklyar briefed the partners from Germany on the current socio-political and socio-economic situation in Kazakhstan, as well as about the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev and the measures of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure sustainable economic growth, public welfare and protect the rights of investors. He noted that cooperation with foreign partners for Kazakhstan is crucial and assured the German partners that all obligations and guarantees of Kazakhstan to investors and businesses will be strictly observed and implemented entirety.

Representatives of the German business were informed about the development of a new concept of investment policy to enhance the investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan in the face of increased ESG requirements, global energy and technological transition.

In turn, the Chair of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy O. Hermes emphasized the importance of cooperation with Kazakhstan as the key partner of Germany in the region. He said that the country has great potential for sustainable energy production and is a desirable partner for Germany. In this context, he stressed that the German business community supports the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan and will contribute to the development of the country. O. Hermes also announced his intention to make a business visit to Kazakhstan, chaired by a German business delegation in May this year.

Representatives of the German business noted that the recent developments did not affect the current and future investment plans of the companies in Kazakhstan, and expressed support for the ongoing policy to improve the investment climate. Ambassador M. Iwersen, as well as the leadership of CLAAS, Deutsche Bahn and Svevind Energy, also supported the measures of the country's Government to stabilize the situation and announced their intention to continue cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan related to the implementation of joint projects.

The event was followed by a FAQ discussion, where the participants discussed the implementation of practical issues.
