Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted Akim of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov
The head of state was informed of the socio-economic development of East Kazakhstan region since the beginning of this year. The meeting paid particular attention to the infrastructural development of the region. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the implementation of his instructions related to the construction of a bridge across the Bukhtarma Reservoir and the repair of a highway bridge in Semey city. Danial Akhmetov also reported to the President on the reconstruction of the airports of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Urjar. The updating of the airports in these cities is to be completed this year.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the need for accelerated construction of infrastructure and housing for socially vulnerable categories of the population. According to Akim, 1,049 apartments and houses were allocated in 2020, and additionally 1,125 ones will be provided for low-income and mothers with many children by the end of this year. Another topic to discuss at the meeting was the prospects for strengthening the export potential of the agricultural sector. Danial Akhmetov informed the Head of State of the launch of an oilseeds processing plant with a capacity of 300,000 tons, and plans to further expand the production of agricultural products.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the issues of industrial and innovative development of the region. Danial Akhmetov reported on the construction progress of the second stage of the Aktogay Mining and Processing Plant.
Following the reporting back meeting, the President gave a number of instructions to Akim of East Kazakhstan region.
