Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities presented to Slovak entrepreneurs

As part of participating in the 15th Globsec International Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi held talks with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivan Korchok and the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Yaroslav Nad, the press service of the Ministry reports.

The parties expressed their mutual readiness to further develop and expand partnership capacity at a new stage of cooperation, including within the framework of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union and its member states. 

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs discussed in detail the ways to strengthen the political dialogue on the bilateral and multilateral tracks within the framework of the UN and OSCE and Trade-Economic Cooperation. The parties noted the huge and underdeveloped potential of such cooperation, supporting the active work of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the idea of creating a business council between the two states and the exchange of business delegations. Additionally, the parties outlined the prospects of cooperation between the following development aid agencies KazAID and SlovakAID.

At the meeting with the Minister of Defense Yaroslav Nad, the parties discussed the Military and Military-Technical Cooperation, the legal basis for which is established by an appropriate intergovernmental agreement. They discussed the issues of exchange of experience in the field of training of Kazakhstan peacekeepers, expanding their participation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN. They also voiced mutual invitations to heads of defense departments and companies to participate in two specialized exhibitions of arms and military equipment - IDEB 2021 and KADEX 2021, which are to be held, respectively, in Bratislava and Nur-Sultan in March and June next year. 

At the same time, the Minister M. Tleuberdi met with the heads of large Slovak companies to familiarize businessmen with Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities. As you know, today more than 40 enterprises with the participation of Slovak capital operate in the Kazakhstani market, this is an important indicator of the mutual interest of the business circles of the two countries. Mechanical engineering, the defense industry, engineering and infrastructure development, the agro-industrial complex, pharmaceuticals, advanced digital technologies and their implementation in the process of creating Industry 4.0 were identified as promising areas of economic interaction.

As part of improving the legal framework and implementing the decisions of the IGC, a number of memorandums of cooperation between the relevant departments were signed during the visit. In particular, the parties will cooperate on a mutually beneficial basis in the field of water industry and forestry, as well as in the field of tourism.

The visit of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan to Bratislava provided an opportunity to jointly search for new ways to develop trade and economic cooperation and strengthen political dialogue, symbolized the beginning of a new stage of partnership between the two countries.

As part of the two-day Globsec Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Yekaterina Zakhariyeva, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova. Minister M. Tleuberdi also met with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis to discuss the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev announced at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

These purposeful meetings discussed the topical issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, joint efforts to fight against the coronavirus pandemic as well as strengthening cooperation within the framework of international organizations such as: the UN, OSCE, CICA, OIC and the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.
