Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan trade turnover doubles

Today in Astana, the Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kassymbek held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbasov.

At the meeting, the heads of Ministries discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in such sectors as trade, investment, export operations, etc.

Zhenis Kassymbek noted the successful implementation of the agreements reached as part of the official visit of the Head of the state to Azerbaijan in April, 2017. In particular, the trade turnover between two countries in the first 8 months of 2018 doubled and accounted for USD168 million (compared to USD 81,5 million in the same period of 2017).

In turn, Parviz Shahbasov noted the importance of deepening relations through holding meetings of intergovernmental commission, establishing relations between partners in different industries, as well as organizing meetings of business circles of two countries.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed gratitude for the conversation and highlighted the importance of relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

For reference: the foreign trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan for January-August, 2018 amounted to USD168,1 million, which is a 106,3% increase compared to the same period of 2017 (USD81,5 million).

Exports from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan for January-August, 2018 accounted for USD134,6 million, which is a 115,3 % increase compared to the same period of 2017 (USD62,5 million).

Imports to Kazakhstan from Azerbaijan for January-August, 2018 amounted to USD33,5 million which is a 75,7 % increase compared to the same period of 2017 (USD19,1 million).
