Germany invested almost $5.5 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy
For 17 years, the volume of German direct investments in Kazakhstan’s economy exceeded $5 billion. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar.
“Since 2005, Germany's direct investments in our economy has amounted to about $5.5 billion. Most of them are directed to the processing industry,” said Roman Sklyar during the Kazakhstan-German Business Forum in Nur-Sultan.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in the light of the restrictions caused by the pandemic, Kazakhstan and Germany managed to maintain the trend of developing bilateral economic cooperation, as well as to continue the promotion of specific projects and proposals using the online format. The Vice Prime Minister highlighted that today Germany is one of the most important partners of Kazakhstan. According to him, there are a set of intergovernmental agreements between the two countries aimed at deepening trade and economic cooperation, encouraging and mutual protecting the investments.
“Cooperation between our countries continues to develop successfully, this is demonstrated by the dynamics of relations, which received a new impetus after the two visits of the Head of our State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Germany in 2019 and 2020. A Government Task Force has been created to resolve issues and problems aroused during the implementation of joint investment projects,” added Roman Sklyar. Moreover, according to him, meetings are held on a monthly basis to discuss current issues of cooperation with German companies, including in an online format.
