Kazakhstan and Slovak entrepreneurs discussed the prospects of investment cooperation

The issues of bilateral cooperation in the new technologies, industry, investments, export development and the implementation of joint high-tech projects were discussed at the Kazakhstan-Slovak round table on the topic “Kazakhstan and Slovakia: new opportunities for cooperation at a new stage”, organized within the framework of the visit of the Head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry Ivan Korcok to Kazakhstan. The event was attended by the representatives of National Companies, Ministries and Departments, as well as more than 30 Kazakhstan-Slovak firms.

During the round table, the parties paid special attention to the issues of further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the practical aspects of doing business. Slovak businessmen were particularly interested in competitive advantages for foreign investments in Kazakhstan.

Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Alimbayev highlighted the importance of deepening Kazakhstan-Slovak mutually beneficial trade and economic relations, development of investment partnership and transfer of advanced technologies.

“Slovak experience and technologies in the alternative and renewable energy sources are of great interest to Kazakhstan. This is especially important in the context of the modernization of the energy sector of Kazakhstan and the transition to a green economy,” Erlan Alimbayev added.

The moderator of the dialogue platform - the Chair of the Investment Committee Ardak Zebeshev invited the meeting participants to actively establish direct contacts with the Kazakhstan business community.

In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korcok, positively assessed the pace of economic development of Kazakhstan, as well as its high investment attractiveness, noted that the Slovak business is interested in Kazakhstan as in an important partner of the Central Asian region.  

Moreover, within the framework of the meeting with the entrepreneurs of the Slovak Republic, Zhandos Temirgali, the Deputy CEO of NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC, made a presentation on the key advantages of implementing investment projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan, on measures of state support for business, as well as on the activities of KAZAKH INVEST. During his address, he also noted the great potential of investment cooperation between the two countries, and called on the business community of Slovak companies to mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the same time, as part of the event, the Kazakhstan side held a number of bilateral meetings with Slovak public and private companies to discuss new approaches in the implementation of joint investment projects in the biotechnology, mechanical engineering, IT, etc.

Furthermore, within the framework of the visit of the Slovak delegation to Kazakhstan, the domestic company engaged in waste management, integration of renewable energy sources and green construction Tau Innovative Solutions LLP and the Slovak production company Kuruc Company spol s.r.o. announced the conclusion of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership. As part of the document, the parties intend to build a plant for the processing of combined packaging and environmental panels producing in Almaty city. By the way, the Agreement provides for the transfer of Slovak technologies and the phased localization of production for further scaling up the plant in other regions.

It’s worth noting that the organizers of the dialogue platform of the business circles of the two countries were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC.
