201 industrial projects implemented in Kazakhstan in 2020
201 projects worth KZT 916.8 billion were implemented in Kazakhstan in 2020, 18,600 new jobs were created as part of the Industrialization Map and Regional Entrepreneurship Support Maps. As reported by a correspondent of the Business Information Center Kapital.kz citing the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
So, in 2020 in Temirtau, Linde Gas LLP launched the industrial gases production - oxygen and nitrogen - for the steel production of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. The new plant produces gaseous oxygen and nitrogen required for the production of iron, steel and rolled metal.
A new plant for the production of passenger buses, quarry and road-building Yutong equipment QazTehna LLP was opened in Saran. The plant plans to produce about 1,200 units of buses and 500 special equipment per year. This will allow already at the first stage to significantly address the situation referred to the worn-out public transport fleets in Kazakhstan.
Another project implemented in Karaganda region within the framework of the Regional Entrepreneurship Support Map was the foundry - the Ferroalloy Plant of Qaz Carbon LLP. The plant produces cast iron grinding balls for concentration plants, cast iron cylpebs for the building sector, brake pads for railway transport, as well as shaped castings.
In Almaty, Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan has launched the production of Accent, Elantra, Sonata, Creta, Tucson, Santa Fe cars. The plant was built taking into account modern technologies of the global automotive industry and the requirements of environmental standards. For 6 months of 2021, the company produced over 7,000 cars, increasing the volume by 18 times. By the end of 2021, the company intends to increase its production – 30,000 cars, including more than 6,000 cars intended for export.
In July 2020, an automated conveyor line of the ModeX house-building plant with a capacity of 135,000 square meters of housing per year was opened in Nur-Sultan city. The company has introduced innovative technologies for large-block housing construction used in the USA, Singapore and Germany in order to reduce construction time, improve its quality and reduce the cost of housing. Modular blocks can be used in the construction of residential complexes, cottages, social infrastructure facilities, including educational institutions, trade pavilions, office premises and others.
In East Kazakhstan region, Ulba-TVS LLP has launched a project to produce fuel assemblies for nuclear power plants as nuclear fuel.
It is reported that these are the key projects that were implemented in 2020. 676 jobs have been created in single-industry towns and 6,500 ones in rural areas.
In general, by the end of 2020, the output of the projects as part of the Industrialization Map and the Regional Entrepreneurship Support Maps, launched in 2010-2020, in the processing industry amounted to almost KZT4.8 trillion or 37%, including in the sectoral context:
metallurgy - KZT 2.4 trillion or 43%;
mechanical engineering - KZT 758.3 billion or 42%;
construction industry - KZT 159 billion or 24%;
chemistry - KZT 281.8 billion or 60%;
pharmaceuticals - KZT 101.9 billion or 74%;
light industry - KZT 46.6 billion or 36%.
