Kazakhstan and Slovak entrepreneurs discussed prospects of investment cooperation

As part of a business round table in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan and Slovak entrepreneurs discussed opportunities for developing bilateral investment as well as trade and economic cooperation.

The forum was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Slovak Republic Roman Vassilenko, the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sungat Yesimkhanov, the First State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vojtech Ferencz, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of NK KAZAKH INVEST JSC Timur Tilinin, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Qazindustry JSC Murat Bekmagambetov, as well as more than 100 representatives of official and business circles of the two countries.

During the event, representatives of KAZAKH INVEST presented the country's investment opportunities in the light of the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and plans for the development of key sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, energy, processing industry and others. The sides paid special attention to the issues of further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the practical aspects of doing business. At the same time, the prospects and challenges facing the business community were discussed, as well as new contacts were established between the business structures of Kazakhstan and Slovakia.

At the same time, Robert Simoncic, Director General of the Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development SARIO, stressed the high interest of Slovak companies in establishing an official representative office in Kazakhstan and strengthening business relations with representatives of business and the public sector, as well as in the implementation of PPP projects. The mission of this agency is to use incentive tools to attract foreign investors, support Slovak companies to successfully penetrate the global market.

As a result of the event, NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC and the Agency for Investment and Trade Development of Slovakia SARIO signed a memorandum of cooperation was with the aim of sharing information and organizing future events. Also, a memorandum of cooperation and joint development was signed by a major European manufacturer of energy-efficient equipment for the production of electric and thermal energy - the Slovak company ENGUL s.r. and Kazakhstan energy company Market Solutions LLP. The organizers of the dialogue platform of business circles of the two countries were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC.

In January-September 2019, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Slovakia amounted to $26.3 million. For the period from 2005 to the 2nd quarter of 2019, the gross inflow of direct investment from Slovakia to Kazakhstan amounted to $20.4 million. To date, about 40 companies with Slovak participation are registered in Kazakhstan in fields, such as medicine, electrical energy, chemistry, industry, mechanical engineering and agriculture.
