Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and China reached USD 20 billion, Zhang Xiao said
The Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao summed up the results of cooperation between the two countries, a correspondent of Kapital.kz reports. In his opinion, the participation of Kazakhstan in the second China International Import Exhibition in Shanghai, held in November 2019, turned out to be very productive.
“New additional contracts worth USD160 million were signed, which open up additional access for Kazakhstan to the Chinese food market. A new record was set in bilateral trade, which over the past year exceeded USD20 billion, several important industrial and investment projects were launched”, the Chinese diplomat highlighted at a reception in honor of the media representatives of China and Kazakhstan.
Summing up the implementation of 55 Kazakhstan-Chinese projects, Mr. Zhang Xiao noted that work in this direction is proceeding fruitfully. To date, about 16 projects have already been completed. “Next year, according to our forecast, another 5-6 will be implemented. One of the most important is the glass manufacturing plant”, he stressed.
In 2019, China was visited by the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. “The visit of Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev brought bilateral relations to the level of comprehensive and strategic partnership. This is unprecedented”, said Zhang Xiao.
The Ambassador added that in 2020 Kazakhstan and China will begin the closest cooperation in the field of education, cultural exchange and the development of relations between the youth of the two countries.
