Kazakhstan investment opportunities are presented in New York
Kazakhstan in a Changing Eurasia investment conference has started today in New York. The Kazakhstan delegation, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev, presented investment opportunities of Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by more than 250 representatives of large international corporations, including such entities as Backer & McKenzie, Сhevron, GE Transportation Digital, RocketSpace Capital and others.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev delivered a welcoming speech at the opening session of the conference on behalf of the Kazakhstan party. The United States of America has always been a strategically important partner for Kazakhstan. For twenty six years, America and Kazakhstan have reached an unprecedented level of mutual trust, adherence and partnership.
“Today I’m here on a very important mission - to provide implementation of the arrangements reached by leaders of our countries in the White House. It’s high time to use the positive trends prevailing in our countries, and to move ahead to projects in the innovation and science.
During the last several years, Kazakhstan has finished the large-scale program of reforms that has enabled to improve the business and investment climate, as well as to integrate our country into the regional and global trade”, - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan said.
Kazakhstan sees the prospects in such non-raw sectors of the economy, as information technologies, extraction and metallurgy, mechanical engineering, agriculture, as well as food, chemical and petrochemical industry. For the purpose of transition to the diversified knowledge-based economy, Kazakhstan has been active in launching the digitization program. Within the framework of the State program «Digital Kazakhstan», measures are being taken to develop the human capital, to create the electronic government and digital economy, to provide all regions of the country with broadband communication, as well as to support the innovative ecological system.
“On the initiative of the Head of the state N. Nazarbayev, we are creating the International Technopark of IT-start-ups (the Astana Hub). It is a unique platform for IT-companies, investors and other persons in order to promote the digital development. The official presentation is planned for November, 5 this year. I would like to invite all of you to this important event. I call our American partners to reap maximal benefits from our ambitious plans. We welcome everyone who is ready to use various investment preferences and other measures of the state support. And, certainly, to invest in Kazakhstan”, - A. Zhumagaliyev summarized.
Besides, during the conference the Deputy Prime Minister RK A.Zhumagaliyev held a number of bilateral meetings with the President of Chevron Europe, Eurasia and Middle East Exploration and Production Company T.Levy, Chief Executive Officer of the company «Theia Group» S. O’Neill, Executive Vice President of the company «Baron Services» R.Baron, Co-owner of the company «RocketSpace Capital» L.Kagan, Chief Executive Officer of the company «Network 1 Financial» R.Hantoms, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company «W.R. Grace» K.Cole, and also with Chief Investment Strategist of the company «Verno Capital» R.Nash. They discussed prospects of cooperation in energy sector, transport and logistics, information technologies and trade. From the Kazakhstan party, the meetings were also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United States of America E. Kazykhanov, Vice-Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Kabikenov, Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Akchulakov, Chairman of the Board of NC Kazakh Invest JSC S.Tuyakbayev, Chairman of the Board of NATR JSC M. Omarov, etc.
During the conference, K.Kelimbetov, Managing Director of the Astana International Financial Center, discussed with participants of the event the opportunities for conducting and developing the international business in Kazakhstan, in view of functioning of AIFC and the extending international and regional network of representative offices of Kazakh Invest aimed at rendering support to investors.
Forum will result in concluding a number of arrangements.
