The World Bank supported 46 projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan during the years of cooperation
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Vice-Presidents of the World Bank and the International Financial Corporation discussed the issues of partnership development
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev held meetings with the Vice-Presidents of the World Bank and International Financial Corporation Cyril Muller and Georgina Baker. The official website of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
During the meeting they discussed the basic directions of the further improvement of the investment climate of Kazakhstan. In particular, they considered the issues of development of the partnership strategy for the nearest five years, expansion of the export potential of Kazakhstan, strengthening the business-climate and the state institutes, as well as significant strengthening of the human capital.
During the years of cooperation, the World Bank has provided to the Republic of Kazakhstan the loans for financing of 46 projects worth more than US $8,1 billion. For today, the portfolio of projects of the World Bank includes 22 projects, including 7 current projects and 15 projects within the framework of the partnership agreements amounting to US $ 4,1 billion. The portfolio of the current projects includes 7 projects totaling US $ 3,2 billion.
In its turn, the strategy of the International Financial Corporation in Kazakhstan aims at improving the access to the infrastructure, strengthening of the financial sector and support of diversification and competitiveness of the economy. Since 1997, the Corporation has invested in the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan over US $1,4 billion, including 300 million in the syndicated loans, for supporting the implementation of 60 projects of the private sector in the financial, gas, mining, agricultural and industrial spheres.
