Trade turnover with Uzbekistan significantly increased and exceeds $2.7 billion per year

In January-December 2019, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $2.75 billion, with an increase of 10.6% compared to January-December, 2018 ($2.49 billion), finprom.kz reports.

The bulk of trade turnover (72%) accounts for export: for 12 months, Kazakhstan delivered goods and services to Uzbekistan to the amount of $2 billion, while the decline over the year amounted to 8.7%. At the same time, imports from Uzbekistan reached $771.2 million, which is 20.6% higher than last year.

By the third quarter of 2019, Kazakhstan's external liabilities to Uzbek investors reached $210.35 million, with an increase of 14% compared to the same period of 2018. By the third quarter of 2018, the amount of liabilities amounted to $184.6 million.

As of March 1, there are 1,154 thousand legal entities, branches and representations with Uzbek participation in Kazakhstan. Almost all of these companies are represented by small enterprises, with the exception of one (large business).

The majority of operating enterprises (74.4%) is functioning in three regions of Kazakhstan: Akmola (517 enterprises), Aktobe (189) and Almaty (152).

61% of operating companies with Uzbek participation work in the field of trade and car repair, construction, as well as professional, scientific and technical activities.
