The Spanish business invests in building of waste-recycling complexes in Kazakhstan
E-Zhasyl Ltd, which shareholders are the consortium of Spanish companies GruppoAnka, ftE and SoroznoEco started to implement several projects on the construction of waste-recycling complexes with energy production. The total cost of all projects is 147 million euros.
NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC provided comprehensive support to Spanish investors. During four months, KAZAKH INVEST selected 3 partners among domestic companies in three different regions of the country. In order to successfully implement the project, meetings were organized with the Vice-Minister of Energy Sabit Nurlybai, representatives of local executive agencies of Astana, Shymkent, Zhezkazgan, Atyrau, Kyzylorda, as well as Almaty and Akmola regions. During the meetings, the investor presented the technology of waste processing - “meriolis”, which has been used successfully in more than 40 similar facilities all over the world.
In addition, the investors were introduced to the Akim of Shymkent city Gabidolla Abrakhimov. During the meeting with the Akim, they discussed the possibility to construct a biogas plant to produce the electricity through the recycling of solid waste. The Akim of Shymkent city informed about the importance of the project for the third metropolis of the country and instructed to search for a land plot for the biogas plant construction.
Spanish investors started their investment activities in Kazakhstan with the construction of a solid waste disposal plant in Zhezkazgan. Kaz Green Energy LLP became a domestic partner of Spanish investors. The production capacity will be 110,000 tons of recycled waste annually. Start of construction and installation works on the first project is scheduled for the first half of 2019.
The next project of Spanish investors will be a waste recycling plant in Shymkent. It is planned that the annual volume of waste will be more than 200,000 tons. The partner in the implementation of this project is the domestic company MPZ Green Line Ltd, a Memorandum of cooperation and implementation of the project is signed.
The investors also intend to launch a similar plant in the Ili district of Almaty region together with AlatauTazalykService Ltd and Taza Zher MPK Ltd. The annual volume of recycled waste will be 250,000 tons.
