CHAIRMAN OF BOARD OF “KAZAKH INVEST” MET WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA TO KAZAKHSTAN
Chairman of Board of “Kazakh Invest” Saparbek Tuyakbayev met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Kazakhstan Mr. Zhang Hanhui in Astana city. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of investment cooperation as part of the “One belt, one way” initiative.
According to the National Investment Strategy of Kazakhstan for 2018 – 2022, China is on the list of the priority foreign countries for attraction of investments. The industrial investment cooperation program includes 51 projects worth above US$27 billion.
During the meeting the parties highlighted that Kazakhstan has became the largest trading partner for China in the Central Asia and the largest investment project in the Eurasian region. The China-Kazakhstan logistical terminal Lianyungang has allowed Kazakhstan to get a maritime outlet to the Asian and Pacific region. The Kazakhstan railways enable China to join the Eurasian Transcontinental Corridor.
“New program “One belt, one way” opens up great prospects for foreign investors in Kazakhstan. We intend to strengthen the practical interactions within the framework of the infrastructural projects, in the non-raw-materials sector”, - the head of “Kazakh Invest” Saparbek Tuyakbayev said.
In turn, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan Mr. Zhang Hanhui expressed his interest in increasing the business activity of Chinese companies on the Kazakhstan market.
It is worth noting that the Chinese investments are mainly involved in such branches as light industry, new technologies, production of consumer goods, metallurgy, oil and gas processing, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, energy, processing of agricultural products, transport and logistics.
Projects are primarily aimed at production of export-oriented products.
