Kazakhstan and China held negotiations on the draft agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments

The fifth round of negotiations took place in Beijing to discuss the project “Agreements between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on encouragement and mutual protection of investments”.

Through negotiations the two parties reached a conceptual agreement on approaches of certain provisions taking into account the national interests, as well as started discussing a particular text of the draft agreement.

The achieved results are the beginning of the joint work to development of qualitative international legal base between the countries and will lay the foundation for further deepening of mutually advantageous investment cooperation for business of two countries.

Economic mutual relations of two countries date back to 1991.

The Agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of China was signed on August 10, 1992.

For the period from 2005 to 9 months of 2017:

- gross inflow of direct investments from the Peoples’ Republic of China in the economy of Kazakhstan accounted for more than US $15 billion.

- gross outflow of direct investments from Kazakhstan in the economy of the Peoples’ Republic of China accounted for US $500,4 million.
