“KAZAKH INVEST” will be meeting with Korean businessmen

In February, Astana city will host a meeting with investors from South Korea, working in Kazakhstan. The event will consider key issues of improving the business environment in the Republic.

This was agreed by Saparbek Tuyakbayev, Chairman of Board of “Kazakh Invest” and Mr.Kim Dae-sik, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan during the meeting in Astana.

Besides, in spring, Seoul will host the Kazakhstan-Korean Business Council with the purpose of enhancing the investment cooperation between the countries. “Kazakh Invest” will present priority investment projects, as well as instruments of support according to the adopted National Investment Strategy of Kazakhstan, including legislative measures of support and administrative support from the National Company.

In turn, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan will assist in the invitation to the Business Council meeting of the perspective South Korean companies interested in investment in the country, the Ambassador Mr.Kim Desik said.

During the meeting Saparbek Tuyakbayev and Mr.Kim Desik discussed joint implementation of projects in sectors of petrochemistry, medicine, agriculture, etc.

One of potential joint projects is the construction of an integrated gas chemical complex in Atyrau region. The interest in implementing the project was expressed by the company “Hanwha Total Petrochemical” which manages the large-scale energy and petrochemical plant consisting of 18 individual plants in South Korea and totals 52 branches abroad.

For reference: Korea is on the list of 11 priority countries for Kazakhstan with the purpose of attraction of investments. The inflow of direct foreign investments from Korea to Kazakhstan in 2005 - I half-year, 2017 accounted for US $4,570,7 million.
